This series is inspired by the interior spaces of my childhood home. Working with the end of a paintbrush handle and thick house paint, I traced my memories of rooms, furniture and passages in a continuous line across each page.

I rented studio space in Barcelona for two weeks in June 2024, but was itching to be outside in the city. So I packed up my materials and spent long afternoons exploring and painting. In Montjuïc Park I was inspired by the high-climbing tree branches fracturing views of the dense city below. Sitting in a shady plaza in Gràcia, I soaked in the energy of cafe conversations, school kids, passing motor bikes, music and sunlight. The experience gave me a new process I’ve been calling “energetic observation”. Some people would stop and watch me for a while, I made a couple new friends and was even invited to tour an artist’s studio a few blocks away.
The same month I also spent a week with friends in Ketchum, Idaho making art. I painted the same way, working outdoors in response to my environment.

Rather than using my usual brushes, I opted for a palette knife to loosen up my process and challenge any inclination to render details. Having less control over my materials keeps me engaged and responsive to the unexpected results that unfold.
